Verse (11:7), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

The ninth word of verse (11:7) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."
