Verse (11:16), Word 3 - Quranic Grammar

The third word of verse (11:16) is a perfect verb (فعل ماض). The verb is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (ليس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).
