Verse (11:109), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

The second word of verse (11:109) is an imperfect verb (فعل مضارع). The verb is second person masculine singular and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

The analysis above refers to the 109th verse of chapter 11 (sūrat hūd):

Sahih International: So do not be in doubt, [O Muhammad], as to what these [polytheists] are worshipping. They worship not except as their fathers worshipped before. And indeed, We will give them their share undiminished.
