The triliteral root wāw bā lām (و ب ل) occurs eight times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • three times as the noun wābil (وَابِل)
  • four times as the noun wabāl (وَبَال)
  • once as the adjective wabīl (وَبِيل)

(73:16:6) wabīlanruinous فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا
