The triliteral root tā rā fā (ت ر ف) occurs eight times in the Quran, in two derived forms:
- three times as the form IV verb ut'rifu (أُتْرِفُ)
- five times as the form IV passive participle mut'rafīn (مُتْرَفِين)

Verb (form IV) - to give luxury
(11:116:23) ut'rifū | luxury they were given | وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ |
(21:13:6) ut'rif'tum | you were given luxury | لَا تَرْكُضُوا وَارْجِعُوا إِلَىٰ مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ |
