The triliteral root fā wāw rā (ف و ر) occurs four times in the Quran, in two derived forms:
- three times as the form I verb fāra (فَارَ)
- once as the noun fawr (فَوْر)

Verb (form I) - to overflow, to gush forth, to boil up
(11:40:5) wafāra | and overflowed | حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ |
(23:27:11) wafāra | and gushes forth | فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ فَاسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ |
