Quran Dictionary - ص ر م

The triliteral root ṣād rā mīm (ص ر م) occurs three times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • once as the form I verb yaṣrimu (يَصْرِمُ)
  • once as the noun ṣarīm (صَّرِيم)
  • once as the active participle ṣārimīn (صَٰرِمِين)

Verb (form I) - to pluck

(68:17:9) layaṣrimunnahāto pluck its fruit إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ

Noun

(68:20:2) kal-ṣarīmias if reaped فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ

Active participle

(68:22:7) ṣārimīnapluck (the) fruit أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَارِمِينَ
