The triliteral root ʿayn yā shīn (ع ي ش) occurs eight times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • twice as the noun ʿīshat (عِيشَة)
  • once as the noun maʿāsh (مَعَاش)
  • twice as the noun maʿāyish (مَعَٰيِش)
  • three times as the noun maʿīshat (مَعِيشَة)
