Verse (9:71), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (9:71) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and passive participle. The prefixed preposition bi is usually translated as "with" or "by". The passive participle is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The passive participle's triliteral root is ʿayn rā fā (ع ر ف). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Sahih International: The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
