Verse (9:49), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (9:49) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". Sahih International: And among them is he who says, "Permit me [to remain at home] and do not put me to trial." Unquestionably, into trial they have fallen. And indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers.
