Verse (9:35), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar


The seventh word of verse (9:35) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person feminine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw yā (ك و ي).

Sahih International: The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, [it will be said], "This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard."

(9:35:7) فَتُكْوَىٰ . Should this not be marked bob IV and فعل مضارع مبني للمجهول ?

This is indeed a passive verb, V – 3rd person feminine singular imperfect verb.

فعل مضارع مبني للمجهول.

But as to Bab, it is Form I, not Form IV.
