Verse (9:24), Word 24 - Quranic Grammar

The 24th word of verse (9:24) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form V imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is rā bā ṣād (ر ب ص). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."
