Verse (8:23), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

The ninth word of verse (8:23) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The form V perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is wāw lām yā (و ل ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.
