Verse (7:168), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (7:168) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is bā lām wāw (ب ل و). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Sahih International: And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience].
