Verse (7:11), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

__

The ninth word of verse (7:11) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and proper noun. The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The proper noun is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
