Verse (76:21), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar


The sixth word of verse (76:21) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The passive form II perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is ḥā lām yā (ح ل ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.
