Verse (6:34), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

The eighteenth word of verse (6:34) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, emphatic prefix and particle of certainty. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis.

Sahih International: And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over [the effects of] denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words of Allah. And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.
