Verse (6:28), Word 11 - Quranic Grammar

The eleventh word of verse (6:28) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn wāw dāl (ع و د). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: But what they concealed before has [now] appeared to them. And even if they were returned, they would return to that which they were forbidden; and indeed, they are liars.
