Verse (6:150), Word 12 - Quranic Grammar

The twelfth word of verse (6:150) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A result particle and prohibition particle. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The prohibition particle (حرف نهي) is used to form a negative imperative and places the following verb into the jussive mood (مجزوم).

Verse (6:150)

Sahih International: Say, [O Muhammad], "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allah has prohibited this." And if they testify, do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, while they equate [others] with their Lord.
