Verse (60:7), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (60:7) is a perfect verb (فعل ماض). The verb is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn sīn yā (ع س ي). The verb (عسى) belongs to a special group of words known as kāda and her sisters (كاد واخواتها).

verb of anticipation فعل الرَّجَاء, always in the perfect, mostly with following اَن and imperfect verb in the subjunctive مَنْصُوب .
