Verse (5:8), Word 20 - Quranic Grammar

The twentieth word of verse (5:8) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form VIII imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is wāw qāf yā (و ق ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah , witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
