Verse (5:73), Word 20 - Quranic Grammar

The twentieth word of verse (5:73) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is mīm sīn sīn (م س س). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Sahih International: They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
