Verse (5:70), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (5:70) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is rā sīn lām (ر س ل). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: We had already taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and had sent to them messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with what their souls did not desire, a party [of messengers] they denied, and another party they killed.
