Verse (5:52), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (5:52) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn sīn yā (ع س ي). The verb (عسى) belongs to a special group of words known as kāda and her sisters (كاد واخواتها).

Verse (5:52)

The analysis above refers to the 52nd verse of chapter 5 (sūrat l-māidah):

Sahih International: So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allah will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful.
