Verse (59:12), Word 12 - Quranic Grammar

The twelfth word of verse (59:12) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The form II imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is wāw lām yā (و ل ي). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Sahih International: If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.
