Verse (58:2), Word 14 - Quranic Grammar

The fourteenth word of verse (58:2) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, accusative particle and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The accusative particle belongs to a special group of words known as inna and her sisters (ان واخواتها). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (58:2)

The analysis above refers to the second verse of chapter 58 (sūrat l-mujādilah):

Sahih International: Those who pronounce thihar among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving.
