Verse (58:10), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (58:10) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (ليس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed, but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allah. And upon Allah let the believers rely.
