Verse (4:83), Word 27 - Quranic Grammar

The 27th word of verse (4:83) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The form VIII perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is tā bā ʿayn (ت ب ع). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (4:83)

The analysis above refers to the 83rd verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And when there comes to them information about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if they had referred it back to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.
