Verse (4:64), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (4:64) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A particle of purpose and verb. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The passive imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is ṭā wāw ʿayn (ط و ع).

Verse (4:64)

The analysis above refers to the 64th verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
