Verse (4:16), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (4:16) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A result particle, verb and subject pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The form IV imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn rā ḍād (ع ر ض). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
