Verse (4:16), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (4:16) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine dual. The verb's triliteral root is ṣād lām ḥā (ص ل ح). The suffix (الألف) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (4:16)

The analysis above refers to the sixteenth verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
