Verse (49:12), Word 25 - Quranic Grammar

The 25th word of verse (49:12) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is kāf rā hā (ك ر ه). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine singular.

Verse (49:12)

Sahih International: O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
