Verse (48:4), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (48:4) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The form VIII imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is zāy yā dāl (ز ي د). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (48:4)

Sahih International: It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Wise.
