Verse (48:15), Word 23 - Quranic Grammar

__

The 23rd word of verse (48:15) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, future particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed future particle sa is used in combination with the imperfect (present tense) verb to form the future tense. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (48:15)

The analysis above refers to the fifteenth verse of chapter 48 (sūrat l-fatḥ):

Sahih International: Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah. Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little.
