Verse (47:10), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (47:10) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition and active participle. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The active participle is masculine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The active participle's triliteral root is kāf fā rā (ك ف ر). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Sahih International: Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed [everything] over them, and for the disbelievers is something comparable.
