Verse (42:27), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (42:27) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is bā ghayn yā (ب غ ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And if Allah had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Acquainted and Seeing.
