Verse (40:37), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (40:37) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is ẓā nūn nūn (ظ ن ن). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine singular.

Verse (40:37)

The analysis above refers to the 37th verse of chapter 40 (sūrat ghāfir):

Sahih International: The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin.
