Verse (40:37), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (40:37) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition and demonstrative pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed preposition ka is usually translated as "like" or "as". The demonstrative pronoun is masculine singular. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Verse (40:37)

The analysis above refers to the 37th verse of chapter 40 (sūrat ghāfir):

Sahih International: The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin.
