Verse (40:21), Word 21 - Quranic Grammar

The 21st word of verse (40:21) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and object pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. Verse (40:21)

Sahih International: Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector.
