Verse (3:28), Word 12 - Quranic Grammar

The twelfth word of verse (3:28) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A result particle and verb. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (ليس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah , except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.
