Verse (3:179), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

The eighteenth word of verse (3:179) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The form IV imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is ṭā lām ʿayn (ط ل ع). Sahih International: Allah would not leave the believers in that [state] you are in [presently] until He separates the evil from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen. But [instead], Allah chooses of His messengers whom He wills, so believe in Allah and His messengers. And if you believe and fear Him, then for you is a great reward.
