Verse (3:176), Word 20 - Quranic Grammar

The twentieth word of verse (3:176) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, preposition and personal pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The personal pronoun is third person masculine plural. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Sahih International: And do not be grieved, [O Muhammad], by those who hasten into disbelief. Indeed, they will never harm Allah at all. Allah intends that He should give them no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.
