Verse (39:7), Word 26 - Quranic Grammar

The 26th word of verse (39:7) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (39:7)

The analysis above refers to the seventh verse of chapter 39 (sūrat l-zumar):

Sahih International: If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
