Verse (39:43), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (39:43) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, supplemental particle and conditional particle. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The supplemental particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so".
