Verse (35:37), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (35:37) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (35:37)

The analysis above refers to the 37th verse of chapter 35 (sūrat fāṭir):

Sahih International: And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us; we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper.
