Verse (34:19), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (34:19) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form II perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is mīm zāy qāf (م ز ق). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. Sahih International: But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
