Verse (33:49), Word 19 - Quranic Grammar

The nineteenth word of verse (33:49) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form II imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is mīm tā ʿayn (م ت ع). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person feminine plural.

Sahih International: O You who have believed, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning them. So provide for them and give them a gracious release.
