Verse (31:25), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (31:25) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Sahih International: And if you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, " Allah." Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allah "; but most of them do not know.
