Verse (31:16), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

The ninth word of verse (31:16) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person feminine singular and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (تكن) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: [And Luqman said], "O my son, indeed if wrong should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.
