Verse (30:9), Word 5 - Quranic Grammar

The fifth word of verse (30:9) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is nūn ẓā rā (ن ظ ر). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (30:9)

The analysis above refers to the ninth verse of chapter 30 (sūrat l-rūm):

Sahih International: Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.
